what does outsourcing our young people mean? It means giving ones self over to companies, technology etc giving ones self over to the internet ,your identity now belongs to the internet.
It is very common in this day and age with the endless and limitless findings on the internet for young boys to get addicted to adult videos. Due to this it shapes their ideals on relationships and women. A study has shown that people who are addicted to these videos ideally want the same from their partners as they do on their videos including image and performance. This also shapes their idea on love blurring the line between love and lust. and in some way ruining love for young adults because they are trying to get something that isn't real. This can also result in a sexist mind set and also degrade women by playing webcam games with their friends where they try to get the girls to take their clothes off. Websites such as chat roulette or omeagle allow this to happen.
An interview Nicholas Negroponte found that in his words "the people who invented the internet had no idea what they were doing, they had no idea that it would become the basis of society This issue was never considered during the making of the internet"
Dr norman doidge explained that for young people sex is extremely aggressive and a big part of teen society. People often try to out do eachother. The guy that gets the most girls is the best etc. but this is a double standard for girls. If a girls gets with alot of guys she puts out too much and is shunned from society.

Demonisation of teenagers in the media
Social media , teenage identification
Thomas de zengitita 2005 mediated.
"Almost everything we know about the world comes to us through some kind of media"
"This influences our view of the world and even our self definition"
Lacan- Mirror image, identification and aspiration .
collective identity :youth demonisation
"kids are out of control they're roaming the streets , they're out late at night - gordon brown 2008
"ferral,cruel and ruthless"
"animals ruining peoples lives"
"To hell with Human rights" "parasites"
How media today represent youth in different ways?
what effect do these representations have. how young people use social media to create a collective identity. How identity is increasingly construction through or in response to the media.
Out of 6500 stories about teen boys over half were about crime and only one in 10 allowed a young persons voice to be heard.
Media exaggerative stories and in result give a bad reputation for all teenagers. Good and bad young people get lumped together just because of the reputation of their age ( the media generalises and does not look at these people and individuals).
Judging teenagers by one look and not taking into consideration their background and environment.(doesn't give these people a chance) Hanging around with the wrong people(peer pressure) Frightened of others and there for try to blend in, in order to stay away from trouble (with us or against us)

Teen trends
with the rise of the internet coming around in the early 90's teenagers spent alot of time enjoying the new things technology had to offer including the gameboy, walkman, nintendo 64 etc. This brought around with it the rise of the teenage shut in where as before teenagers had to make their own fun they now had fun right at their finger tips. However with the rise of the walkman this allowed teens to be able to listen to their favourate music on the go.

Music of the 90's
http://www.mtv.co.uk/music/charts/the-official-top-100-singles-of-the-90s
1. BRITNEY SPEARS(BABY ONE MORE TIME)She first gained national notice as a member of The New Mickey Mouse Clubon Disney's cable network, but it was as a pop singer that Britney Spears became the most watched celebrity in the world. Her first single "...Baby One More Time" is a brilliant piece of pop music. It's catchy, sexy, and it sports a mildly controversial video certain to keep people talking.
2.NIRVANA (SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT) The emergence of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" as a top 10 pop hit remains one of the most dramatic events in pop music of the 1990s. Kurt Cobain's sardonic view of teenagers set amongst a pop melody pounded out by drums and guitars bathed in fuzzed up distortion rattled the pop music establishment. It was all accompanied by a music video that presented a memorable and unrelentingly dark view of the classic school pep rally. Grunge had arrived.
3. Madonna - "Ray of Light" With her first completely new studio album in 4 years, Madonna brought electronica to the top of the pop charts. Working with collaborator William Orbit, the music sounded fresh, new, and invigorating.
spice girls
The Spice Girls were a British pop girl group formed in 1994. The group consisted of five members, who each later adopted nicknames initially ascribed to them: Melanie Brown ("Scary Spice"), Melanie Chisholm ("Sporty Spice"), Emma Bunton ("Baby Spice"), Geri Halliwell ("Ginger Spice"), and Victoria Beckham, née Adams ("Posh Spice"). They were signed to Virgin Records and released their debut single "Wannabe" in 1996, which hit number one in more than 30 countries and helped establish the group as a global phenomenon.
On 7 July 1996, the Spice Girls released their debut single "Wannabe" in the United Kingdom. In the weeks leading up to the release, the video for "Wannabe" (directed by Swedish commercials director Johan Camitz and shot in April at St Pancras Chambers in London), got a trial airing on music channel The Box. The video was an instant hit, and was aired up to seventy times a week at its peak. After the video was released, the Spice Girls had their first live TV slot on broadcast on LWT's Surprise Surprise. The first music press interview appears in Music Week. In July 1996, the group conducted their first interview with Paul Gorman, the contributing editor of music paper Music Week, at Virgin Records' Paris headquarters. His piece recognised that the Spice Girls were about to institute a change in the charts away from Britpop and towards out-and-out pop.

Fashion
The fashion in the 1990s was the beginning of the adoption of tattoos, body piercings aside from ear piercing and to a lesser extent, other forms of body modification such as branding. This brought back the indifferent, anti-conformist approach to fashion, leading to the popularisation of the casual chic look; this included T-shirts, jeans, hoodies, and trainers, a trend which continued into the 2000s.
In the early 1990s, several late 1980s fashions remained very stylish among both sexes. However, the popularity of grunge and alternative rock music helped bring the simple, unkempt grunge look into the mainstream by 1994.
Overall, the 1990s saw a return to the minimalist fashion of the 1950s and 1970s.contrasted to the more elaborate and flashy trends of the 1980s. Additionally, fashion trends throughout the decade recycled styles from previous decades, notably the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.
Hair
Women's hair in the early 1990s continued in the big, curly style of the 1980s.The pixie cut and Rachel haircut, based on the hairstyles of Jennifer Aniston in Friends and Marlo Thomas in That Girl, were popular in America from 1995 onwards
The 1990s generally saw the continued popularity of longer hair on men. In the early 1990s, curtained hair and small ponytails were popular amongyuppies. Other trends included Flattops, Hi-top fades, and cornrows. For teenage boys longer hair was popular in the early to mid-1990s, including collar-length curtained hair, shaggy surfer hair popular among some Britpop fans, and dreadlocks. During the mid-1990s, the much-ridiculed bowl cut became a fad among skaters, while hip-hop fans wore a variant of the flattop known as the Hi-top fade. In the late 1990s, hair was usually buzzed very short for an athletic look, although a few grunge fans grew their hair long in reaction to this. For teenage girls and younger children, hair was worn long with heavily teased bangs called "mall bangs" which were long fringes covering the forehead. Headbands and scrunchies of various styles and colors were popular with girls throughout the early and mid 1990s, and they frequently wore them with side ponytails and bangs.
Makeup
Women's makeup in the early 1990s primarily consisted of dark red lipstick and neutral eyes.Around 1992 the "grunge look" came in to style among younger women and the look was based on dark red lipstick and smudged eyeliner and eyeshadow. Both styles of makeup continued into 1994,[61] but went out of style the next year.
The trends in makeup shifted in the mid 1990s. In 1995, nude shades became desirable and women had a broader color palette in brown. Another makeup trend that emerged was matte lipsticks, with deep shades of red and dark wine colors worn as part of night makeup

Narrative
During AS media we created an opening for a film. For this task we were asked to get into groups and think of a genre and a general target audience that we wanted to appeal to. Our group chose to take influences from such films as Scott Pilgrim Vs the world and Shaun of the dead Due to how we wanted to create a comedy horror film that appealed to mid to older teens.
The film opens with what the audience doesn't know to be Dory's legs. She appears to be limping and staggering down the driveway of pennies house which is covered in pizza boxes and toilet paper. Due to the fact we do not see the upper half of dory and there is no explanation for the extreme mess in the front yard which instantly creates a lot of enigma codes for the audience. We chose to open with this scene in order to make the audience question as to why there was a large mess on the drive?, why is she limping?, who is she?, is she drunk or is she a zombie?.
often you would think that "zombie" is quite a farfetched thing to think however as a result of the dark and creepy atmosphere we are able to create, thanks to editing along with the time of the day it was filmed we successfully created the atmosphere we wanted while making the best of the mise en scene. Due to the tracking shot we had in the beginning it managed to bring some disorientation to the audience making them further confused while also making them question the enigma codes.
As we reach pennies room we get a massive tension build up to the point where you need to know whats going to happen but your too sacred to watch only to have it broken as she enters the room. At this point we reveal the "mystery limper" to be Pennies best friend Dory, tricking and manipulating the audiences feelings with a build up of false tension or misdirection. This is often done in horror movies and even more so in comedy horror films however this is done for separate reasons. Misdirection in serious horror movies is created in order to build you up for the real jump scare. Misdirection in comedy horror is generally put there for comedic purposes. This catches the audience off guard but also makes them laugh because they feel a little foolish for being tricked.
As Penny and Dory get ready for their sleep over, the equilibrium finally reveals itself. Todorovs theory states that every story faces the same conventions. The story starts with an equilibrium, then an obstacle gets in the way, then we get back to equilibrium to have an even bigger obstacle in the way concluded by equilibrium and the hero of the story coming out as a different person. In our video the enigma codes make the audience believe there is instantly an obstacle making them unaware of the equilibrium at hand and instead this is simply foreshadowing the events that were to unfold later in the story.
As we are introduced to our characters it is clear that these two girls are going to be presented as the heroes of our story. Propps theory suggests that every story has the basic character types, hero, princess, villain , sidekick etc. Due to how we are instantly introduced to these two characters and the fact they project a positive relatable image casts them better as the hero type as we become attached to them in the first 2 minuits.

Digital Technologies: How my skills have progressed and how they have helped me in my productions
Digital technologies have a had a massive influence on media production over the last few years and since I started in Year 12 I have learned a massive amount about how to use them and what the benefits are of using them. They in turn have had a massive impact on the quality of your finished products.
At we used premiare pro to edit our footage for our film, prelim and any other recorded footage such as interviews and montages. At A2 we used premiare pro in a different way by exploring music videos instead of films ,creating our preliminary scene for scene remake of a music video, steel-o- matic and finally our final music video which required more editing due to the fact it needed alot of quick cuts and edits in order to keep the video flowing and keep it interesting. At AS we used facebook to Keeo connected yo our group all the time and figure out when we would be available. This helped to come up with ideas outside of class and talk to eachother about certain props, costumes and locations. At A2 we used facebook in a different way. We basicall used facebook in the same way, still keeping in touch with our group and sharing our ideas outside of class however this time we made our artist a facebook premotional page to advertise him and his new album.
At As we use Youtube to upload our raw and edited footage , research examples of movie openings created by established directors and even independent movies. We also looked at other schools that were doing the same task.in order to get greater influence for our film openings we looked at indapendent movies such as the selfish giant. We also looked at hollywood block buster movie openings such as resident evil. This managed to help us understand more about the importance of opening titles. We also used youtube to vlog about our progress while also finding inspiration and researching videos of a similar genre. At A2 we used Youtube in a different way. We still Used youtube to upload our footage to the internet in order to put them onto our blogs. We also used it to find the music that we wanted to use for our music video. After this we found examples of music videos in order to get inspiration and collected clips to make our steel-o-matic. We also used youtube to find videos that were similar in various ways such as lana del reys old time 50's-60's vibe.
At As we used digital cameras to record all of our footage such as the Juno task, Preliminary task, video sweeds, final production, interviews ,montages and sped up videos (e.g. my makeup and drawings) .At A2 we used digital cameras in a different way by actually taking photographs, recording our footage such as lip sych practice, banana phone filming task, interviews, preliminary task and final production. This was different in the way that when we came to creating the banana phone filming task we had to do new things such as stop motion.
At As we used fireworks/photoshop to create movie posters , mood boards and the opening titles which wasnt much because at the time we didnt know very much. At A2 we used fireworks/ photoshop in a different way to create premotional photographs, posters, website background, merchandise, mood boards and a digipak. As you can see i have gained alot more knowlage of photoshop between AS and A2 and have used my newly found knowlage to my desposal.
Creativity: How your skills have progressed and how they helped you in your productions
Creativity is the process of “making of new things and the re-arranging of the old,” so the ability to have your own ideas and not just copy other peoples, and the ability to do things that are unusual, unique, and different.
In AS we origionally took our ideas from the stuff that we liked. The majority of our group liked the same kind of movie genres and therefor we found it easier to come together in order to create something new and interesting. While we likes zombie movies we also liked quite nerdy movies such as scott pilgrim vs the world that was extremely graphics based and used alot of comic book refrences. We decided to incorperate this into our own movie however instead of going for the conventional comic book super hero "WHAM" "POW" refrences we used gaming refrences such as "level up" . If anything the characters we created were much more over exagerated versions of ourselves, this was good and at first we decided to make them America to appeal to the neich market however the accents didnt work too well with the mise en scene and in the end we scrapped the idea.
We intentionally chose this location to fit with the opening of the film. The whole idea was to have a sleep over where two nerdy girls are "geeking out " on the sofa playing video games. To make this possible one of the memebers of our group offer to let us use his house as the set for our movie opening. This worked really well as we were able to dress the room up to look like a nerdy teenage girls room having cute japanese plush toys all over the sofa, figurines , posters etc. We decided to have the main character of the movie penny wear a large over grown pokemon onesie in order to further show the massive game refrence and set in place her characters traits. We decided that penny would be the more outthere of the two while her friend dory would be the more reserved of the two. The bright yellow onesie represents her over the top personailty while the fact the character presented on the onesie is a game character shows the gact that she loves games. Dory on the other hand is more of a book worm. this is shown through her thick rimmed glasses, freckles, tired bags under her eyes and dull burgandy cardigan. These two while complete geeks are polar opposites off eachother who seem to have a common interest in gaming. We used the front of the house as the opening to what was to come. The dull , grey atmostphere along side the limping and shaky camera work was to create a horror feeling. We scattered rubbish and toilet paper all over the drive in order to trick the audeince into thinking it was a zombie appocalipse, therefor establishing the mood without actually giving anything away.
At A2 we wanted to be much more outside of the box and not follow the genre conventions at all. We chose to be very brave and go with the 60's vibe to our music video, Although many thought this would be hard to acomplish we decided to go with the idea of a concept video, showcasing props that link to the mood, atmostphere and lyrics. We decided to have a white background for the shots. This was done because we didnt want to distract from what was going on in the video. I was able to be much more creative this time as we wanted to give our artist a Ziggy stardust makeup look. To keep it from looking less hippy and more glam rock the eye shadow was a toned down a little bit however by keeping the glitter and diamonds it loosely linked to the galaxy theme and could within reason be linked to stars. We also kept to the purple colour scheme by using purple eye shadow. Because our music video has very little references to the galaxy theme which surrounded our artists general image it was extremely important that we use the makeup to show this. The reason we had little reference to "the galaxy theme" was because it was extremely important to us to make links to the 60's "the hippy era" in practically every shot possible meaning links to old cartoons such as Micky mouse or old toys such as "rock em sock em". If we had of made more reference to our theme than the 60's the song would have not matched the video because of the style and era the music was created.
At first we were very basic and practical with our use of camera work. I would say the only peice of fancy camera work that was shown in or first production would have to be the shakey camera affect that was used in order to disorientate the viewer,In A2 our camera work was much smoother however we did use alot of static shots. This was needed in order to have the audence pay much more attention to the performer and the shots that acompanied him. We did however use pans and zooms in order to keep it interesting throughout.
Editing has been a massive part of my jeorney throughout AS and A2. Although my editing has been purely based around graphic design and photo edits I feel that over the course of AS and A2 i have managed to become alot better at this. During As i created 2 posters for our film, One displaying Penny and another displaying a zombie. This showcased my skill in photography and editing quite well however this improved much more in A2 because i was given the task to create the digipack, posters , merchandise and premotional photos. I used both pic monkey and photoshop in order to create the best pictures i possibly could, using overlays, layers, tints, photographs, graphics and a wide variety of effects. As far as editing goes for our videos we left this task to George ( a key memeber of our group) due to the fact his skill was far better than any of ours. At AS to create the video game atmostphere frame by frame he edited in a health bar , he also edited in name tags above the characterssuch as the ones you would find in mordern games to introduce a character. At A2 he used a much more wider variety of visuals in order to show the refence to the 60's putting in the movie reel effect, old tv. etc. it was clear his editing has improved and has helped us deffinatly during both AS and A2.

Research & Planning: How your skills have progressed and how they helped you in your productions
During my all of my production work until now research and planning has been a huge part of my work. Because i have spent so much of my time in media research and planning for my productions, my skills have developed in order to do much more extensive and detailed research into certain areas of production. At the begging when casting for our videos we ended up casting our friends but later realised that some people were more reliable than others. This was a valuble lesson in which we took on board for later projects. Often we would look at peoples acting skills by doing test shots and even look at their time table in order to see how available they were going to be. It was fine having someone that was a great actress or actor however this was useless if they were incapable to being available when we needed them. When looking at our target audeience we used audience questionares to see what our target audeince wanted out of us.
We asked people who fit into the stereotypical neiche market for our film. Our film was much more targeted to misfit teenagers or comic book nerds. Although people like this were quite hard to find we managed to find some people who fit and asked them some questions about our film. We showed them two movie posters that we created to advertise the film. We first asked them what kind of film they think this was going to be. They all responded that it was going to be a zombie film and reminded them of movies such as scott pilgri vs the world an shaun of the dead. This was exactly the type of atmostphere we wanted from our movies and around 60% of the people we asked said they would probably go and watch it. at A2 this was much harder to acomplish. Our target audence was generally hippies. People who fit more into the psycadelic scene which there was no people of that nature to interview about COSMO.
After creating our video we got peer feed back by having a group viewing, We had all of our peers from other classes come in and watch our video. Once the video was over the wrote their thoughts and feelings about the video onto a peice of paper that we had prepared for them. We then took them in and read their comments. We got a mixed reaction from the people who watched it, mainly commenting on the acting however this didnt knock us down and instead pushed us to do better in future. At A2 we had a much more organised and easier approach to our feedback. In order to get as many peoples feed back as possible we emailed lots of people a questionare and a link to our final video. This was much more organised and much more diverse in their response due to how many people responded. People were actually very positive in their feedback saying it was outside of the box however some people mentioned it was a little boring and confusing which was to be expected as it was a concept based video.
In order to get greater influence for our film openings we looked at indapendent movies such as the selfish giant. We also looked at hollywood block buster movie openings such as resident evil on youtube, This managed to help us understand more about the importance of opening titles and the idea that you didnt have to show everything in the first 2-3 minuits. My group also examined shawn of the dead and scott pilgrim vs the world in order to get a feel and understanding of the genre conventions . We also looked at schools such as latymer which is known for their media work. We looked at their take on this task in order to think of how to realisticallly make a good opening on a very little budget and also find things that may influence and inspire us to make our videos much more exciting and unique. We looked at the wide variety of texts and the different ways you can use them to make your video opening much more interesting. We also did this for A2 when creating our music video, looking at different school take on things and seeing how it could influence our own. I found that some other schools had more available to them so we did the best with what we had and spiced it up with things such as makeup and costume.
Throughout my entire time in media it has been massively important to create a story board and a shot list in order to organise our shooting time. Everytime i have worked on a video i have been in charge of creating the storyboard due to my knowlage of art and design and there for i have been able to show case my skills effectively making a good story board that everyone can follow and understand well. I found my story boardind was much harder in A2 due to the fact it was a music video that had alot of shots and quick cuts to make it intertesting. Because of this i had to draw up alot more shots.
At AS we completed prelim tasks to get a clear understand of shots and how to use them effectively,
we were asked to get into groups and we were given a movie genre and a target audience. During this time we were also given a list of shots that had to be included. During our preliminary task i learnt alot about camera angles, shots and how to better use a video camera using a tripod. I also learnt how to better create an ariel shot by putting a tripod on a table and looking down. Our list of shots included things such as, shot reverse shot, 365 degeree rule, close ups, tracking shots etc. At A2 we done something very similar however we were asked to recreate a music video. I found this much easier than the AS prelim task as we had something there to copy frame to frame much like the juno task we had to do at the beginning of the course. I actually enjoyed this much more because although we were restricted to the video we could have alot more fun with it.

Post Production: How your skills have progressed and how they helped you in your productions
When i started the course i knew litterally nothing about post production. I went from knowing nothing to being able to edit things such as video, sound, photographs and graphics. I have learnt this through the duration of two years via the creation of small editing, video tasks and preliminary tasks such as video sweeds, shot for shot preliminary task, juno task, banana phone video task, lip synch practice and music video shot for shot remake preliminary task. We were first introduced to premiare pro when we started editing the opening from james bond 007 casino royal. This introduced us to a wide variety of effects and got us familliar with the program. Although they were not all that amazing they managed to get us slightly more comfortable with editing. Our first year kicked off filming with the task to recreate the opening from juno trying our best to get each shot perfect along side the origional video. We learnt the importance of props and camera work. I feel this is where we truley started to learn how to edit and use the video camera. After filming each shot exactly to what the origional video showed we continued on to use premiare pro, we were still very new to this program at this point and the effects we used for the video were extremely basic however this still helped us become more confident while editing for future projects.
When making our video sweeds we worked in groups of 3-4 however we were able to get as many extras involved as possible to make our video sweeds as good as possible. Our group chose to do the hunger games as a sweed mainly because we felt that this would be easy to create and was also well known. Our teacher presented us with the challenge of getting a good majority views on our video and whichever group managed to get the most views won. Our hunger games sweed wasn't all that great however I did learn to be much more confident in front of the camera which was good for me in our actual production for AS because before media i was extremely camera shy. When creating our shot for shot video task we were asked to get into groups and we were given a movie genre (ours was sci-fi) and a target audience.
This was all brought together at the end to create our final productions in AS which really helped us to become more confident when moving onto A2 which required much more editing and filming due to the fact it was a music video task. While learning in my first year i also learn the impotance of fole (sound effects) .This is a recorded sound that goes over the origional sound. I learnt that this used in order to amplifly key sounds such as a opening a coke can or in some cases an actor will re record their lines due to the sound being to low etc. We used fole in a few cases in order to emphasise cetrain key noises because they were too faint. During filming I also played around with lighting, due to the fact i worked with photography previous to the course i was able to use lighting umbrellas to make the shots bright and crisp. This however was brought down in the final edits to make the room look dark and had a bluey tint to it to show thelight of the t.v.Althugh my lighting was not used this made the editing much easier to acomplish. My knowlage of lighting also came in handy at A2 due to the set being all white and needed bright lighting.

As a whole my post production skills have developed massively over the course of two years and have enabled me to successfully create some good edits and videos which have continued to get better and better with each task given to me. I now know how to successfuly edit whether it be photographs, graphics, sound or videos in order to make them look good and fit well with each task.
